Journal of Bioscience Studies (JBS)

The Journal of Bioscience Studies (JBS) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, fully open-access scholarly journal dedicated to the publication and dissemination of high-quality research across the biosciences and life sciences. JBS provides a multidisciplinary platform for original scientific research, systematic reviews, and other scholarly contributions that advance understanding of biological processes, biomedical sciences, translational research, and applied life sciences.

Aim & Scope JBS aims to promote rigorous, ethical, reproducible, and scientifically significant research in the biosciences and related life-science disciplines. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies that contribute new knowledge, methodological advances, mechanistic understanding, or meaningful applications in biological and biomedical science. The journal's scope encompasses fundamental, applied, computational, environmental, agricultural, biomedical, and translational bioscience research.

Target Readership JBS is intended primarily for researchers, scientists, academicians, clinicians, healthcare professionals, educators, and other practitioners working in the biosciences, biomedical sciences, and related life-science disciplines. The journal welcomes contributions from authors and research groups worldwide.

Scope & Article Types JBS publishes original research articles, systematic and evidence-based reviews, short communications, perspectives, and other scholarly article types consistent with the journal's scope and editorial policies. Submissions are evaluated according to their scientific quality, originality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, clarity, and relevance to the journal's readership. The journal does not accept manuscripts that involve plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Publication Frequency & Schedule The Journal of Bioscience Studies (JBS) is published three times per year (triannual) beginning in 2026. Each annual volume is organized into three publication issues:

Issue 1: January–April

Issue 2: May–August

Issue 3: September–December

Within each issue, JBS follows a continuous publication model. Articles are published online as soon as they have completed peer review, editorial processing, production, and final approval, rather than waiting for the completion of the full issue. Each article remains assigned to its designated annual volume and issue and receives its publication date and persistent article identifier where applicable.

Previous Publication Frequency: In 2024 and 2025, JBS was published biannually, with two issues per year.

Peer Review & Editorial Standards JBS operates a double-blind peer-review process for scholarly manuscripts requiring peer review. Manuscripts are first assessed editorially for scope, originality, completeness, ethical considerations, and suitability for external review. Eligible manuscripts are evaluated by independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise who are not members of the journal's editorial decision-making team. Editorial decisions are based on the reviewers' assessments together with the Editor's independent academic judgment.

The editorial process considers scientific originality, methodological rigor, validity of analysis, reproducibility, ethical compliance, reporting quality, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope. The journal does not guarantee acceptance or publication of submitted manuscripts. Any exceptions to the standard peer-review process are governed by the journal's stated editorial policies and are identified transparently where applicable.

Research Ethics & Integrity JBS is committed to responsible research and publication practices. Manuscripts involving human participants, identifiable human data, or animals must comply with applicable ethical and regulatory requirements and must provide appropriate ethical approval, informed-consent information, or relevant exemptions where applicable. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research has been conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards and applicable institutional or regulatory requirements.

The journal maintains policies addressing authorship and contributorship, competing interests, funding disclosure, plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, research misconduct, corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, complaints, appeals, and post-publication issues. JBS may investigate suspected breaches of research or publication integrity and may take appropriate corrective action.

Publication Ethics & Responsible Publishing JBS follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal follows the core practices and ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and, where applicable to biomedical and health-related research, the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit and are independent of commercial, financial, personal, or other inappropriate influences. The journal maintains appropriate procedures for conflicts of interest, research misconduct, authorship disputes, plagiarism, corrections, retractions, complaints, appeals, and other publication-integrity concerns.

Research Reporting & Reproducibility JBS encourages authors to follow established reporting guidelines appropriate to the study design and discipline. Where applicable, manuscripts should follow recognized standards such as CONSORT for randomized trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, CARE for case reports, and ARRIVE for animal research. Authors are encouraged to provide sufficient methodological detail to support transparency, reproducibility, and appropriate interpretation of research findings.

Open Access JBS is a fully open-access journal. All published scholarly articles are made freely and immediately accessible online without subscription, registration, or embargo restrictions. Readers may access, read, download, and reuse published articles in accordance with the applicable open license.

Copyright & Licensing Articles published by JBS are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits others to copy, distribute, display, adapt, and build upon the published work, including for commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source.

Authors retain copyright of their published work, subject to the publication and licensing terms agreed with the journal. The journal's copyright and licensing arrangements are intended to remain consistent with the journal's open-access policy and the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

Data Sharing & Transparency JBS supports responsible data sharing, transparency, and reproducibility. Authors are encouraged to make underlying research data, analytical materials, protocols, code, and other relevant resources available through appropriate repositories when ethically, legally, and practically possible. Where data cannot be openly shared because of privacy, confidentiality, legal, ethical, or other legitimate restrictions, authors should provide an appropriate data-availability statement explaining the applicable restrictions and access conditions.

Editorial Independence JBS maintains an editorial process designed to protect editorial independence and impartiality. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific and scholarly merits of submissions, including originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, relevance, and contribution to the field. Editorial decisions are not influenced by the commercial interests, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, nationality, or other non-scholarly characteristics of authors.

Digital Preservation & Persistent Identification JBS is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility and preservation of its published scholarly record through appropriate digital preservation and archiving arrangements. Published articles are assigned persistent identifiers where applicable, and article-level metadata is maintained to support discoverability, citation, and long-term access.

Author Charges Any article processing charges, publication fees, submission fees, or other author-facing charges applicable to JBS are disclosed separately in the journal's Author Fees / Publication Charges policy. No fee information is concealed from authors, and editorial decisions are not based solely on an author's ability to pay.

Editorial Commitment The journal is committed to maintaining a transparent, objective, ethical, and academically rigorous editorial process.
