Information For Authors

Scope and Article Types The Journal of Bioscience Studies (JBS) publishes original, scientifically rigorous research and scholarly contributions across biological, biomedical, and life sciences. JBS considers Original Research Articles, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, Scoping Reviews, Narrative Reviews, Short Communications, Case Reports and Case Series, Methods and Technical Articles, Clinical and Observational Studies, Animal and In Vitro Studies, Computational and Bioinformatics Studies, Perspectives, Commentaries, Editorials, and Letters to the Editor. Authors should select the article type that most appropriately reflects the study design and scientific contribution.

Manuscript Formatting Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) and prepared using the following specifications:

• Font: Cambria

• Title: 18 pt, bold

• Author Names: 11 pt, bold

• Affiliations: 10 pt

• Abstract: 9 pt

• Main Text and Headings: 9 pt

• References: 9 pt

• Text Alignment: Justified

• Citation Style: Vancouver

• In-text Citations: Arabic numerals in square brackets, e.g., [11]

Title and Authorship The title should be concise, specific, informative, and consistent with the study design. Where appropriate, the study design should be identified in the title. Author names should be followed by superscript affiliation numbers, with the corresponding author identified by an asterisk (*). Affiliations should include the department, institution, city, and country. The corresponding author's institutional address and email address must be provided.

Abstract and Keywords Research manuscripts should include a structured abstract appropriate to the study design. Original Research Articles should normally include Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Other article types should use headings appropriate to their methodology. Abstracts should report the principal findings quantitatively where appropriate. Provide 3–8 keywords, preferably using established scientific or MeSH terminology where applicable.

Study-Specific Structure Manuscripts should follow a structure appropriate to the study methodology:

• Original Research: Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion

• Observational Studies: Study design, setting, participants, variables, statistical analysis, results, discussion, limitations, and conclusion; STROBE should be followed where applicable.

• Clinical Trials: Randomization, allocation, blinding, intervention, comparator, outcomes, sample-size calculation, registration, adverse events, and participant flow; CONSORT should be followed where applicable.

• Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: Eligibility criteria, search strategy, study selection, data extraction, risk of bias, synthesis, and limitations; PRISMA 2020 should be followed where applicable.

• Scoping Reviews: Review question, eligibility criteria, search strategy, study selection, data charting, synthesis, and limitations; PRISMA-ScR should be followed where applicable.

• Narrative Reviews: Background, objective or scope, evidence identification, critical synthesis, knowledge gaps, future directions, and conclusion.

• Animal / In Vivo Studies: Animal model, species/strain, sex, age/weight, sample size, housing, groups, interventions, procedures, outcomes, randomization/blinding, and humane endpoints; ARRIVE should be followed where applicable.

• In Vitro / Experimental Studies: Biological materials or cell lines, experimental conditions, controls, concentrations/doses, exposure duration, replicates, analytical methods, and statistical analysis.

• Molecular Docking / Computational Studies: Protein and ligand identifiers, preparation, software and versions, docking parameters, binding-site definition, validation, scoring, and molecular-dynamics parameters where applicable.

• Bioinformatics / Omics Studies: Dataset sources and accession numbers, preprocessing, quality control, normalization, analytical pipeline, software versions, thresholds, statistical methods, multiple-testing correction, and validation.

• Diagnostic / Biomarker Studies: Study population, index test, reference standard, diagnostic thresholds, sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, ROC/AUC analyses, confidence intervals, and statistical methods; STARD should be followed where applicable.

• Case Reports / Case Series: Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion, including relevant diagnostic, treatment, follow-up, and outcome information; CARE should be followed where applicable.

• Short Communications, Technical Notes, Perspectives, Commentaries, Editorials, and Letters: These should provide concise, evidence-based scholarly contributions with a structure appropriate to their purpose.

Reporting Guidelines Authors should use the reporting guideline appropriate to their study design, including CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA 2020, PRISMA-ScR, CARE, STARD, ARRIVE, COREQ, RECORD, TRIPOD, or other applicable standards. Compliance should be reflected in the manuscript where appropriate.

Results, Tables and Figures Results should be presented logically and directly address the study objectives. Statistical findings should include appropriate effect estimates, measures of uncertainty, confidence intervals, and P values where applicable. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively, clearly titled or captioned, cited in the text, and accompanied by definitions of abbreviations and symbols. Figures and images must accurately represent the underlying data and must not be manipulated in a misleading manner.

Ethics and Research Integrity Research involving humans or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and include the relevant ethics committee approval and reference number. Where applicable, manuscripts must include statements concerning Ethical Approval, Informed Consent, Trial or Study Registration, Data Availability, Funding, Conflict of Interest, and Author Contributions. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct are not acceptable.

References and Citation Style JBS uses the Vancouver referencing style. References should be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the text. In-text citations must appear in square brackets, for example [11]. Multiple references should be cited as [11,12], while consecutive references may be cited as [11-14]. The reference list should contain only cited references and should not be arranged alphabetically. Authors should verify all bibliographic details and provide DOI information where available.

Submission Requirements Before submission, authors should confirm that the manuscript is within the scope of JBS, follows the appropriate article type and study-design structure, complies with the prescribed formatting, contains an appropriate structured abstract, cites all tables and figures, includes required ethical and consent statements, discloses funding and conflicts of interest, provides author contributions and data availability where applicable, and uses accurate Vancouver-style references. The manuscript must be original and not under consideration by another journal.

Editorial Assessment All submissions are subject to editorial assessment and, where appropriate, peer review. Manuscripts may be returned or declined before peer review if they do not adequately meet the journal's scope, scientific, methodological, ethical, reporting, originality, or formatting requirements. Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity, transparency, and completeness of their submissions.
